Dead Cells will also be receiving two new weapons, two new mutations, weapon balancing to make three of the least popular weapons more useful, and a Santa skin just in time for the Holidays. The ability to play older builds of the game isn't all the Legacy Update is bringing with it though. According to Motion Twin, the decision to create an update that allows for this type of backpedaling comes from seeing how the regular updates that Dead Cells has received has slowly been changing the game that players originally fell in love with. This isn't the first time that Dead Cells has tried to reinvigorate players with content updates, although the Legacy Update surprisingly takes a different approach to capturing player attention. The Steam announcement also comes with an explanation for how to open previous builds, as well as how to keep Steam Cloud from deleting old saves. The update will allow players to play any previous build of the game, complete with glitches, exploits, and balance issues. This update, dubbed the Legacy Update, will bring some new items to the game, but the most interesting prospect about this update is the way that it will let players play older versions of Dead Cells.Ĭoming off the heels of a newly announced DLC for Dead Cells, the Legacy Update looks to attract players to rejoin the game in preparation for the new content coming to the 2018 title. Dead Cells developer Motion Twin has announced the latest update coming to the title through the game's Steam page.
